Meet Carthusia
It dates back to the 14th century, and in 1681 a Prior monk discovered manuscripts containing ancient perfumery formulas. This Prior contacted a perfumer of the time, and together they founded the smallest laboratory in the world on the Island of Capri, Italy. Thus was born CARTHUSIA, a perfumery house inspired by the Island of Capri, entirely artisanal and created exclusively with 100% natural raw materials—90% of which are cultivated on the island itself, and the remaining 10%, such as spices, sourced from other countries, always using natural ingredients of the highest quality, selected from the best harvests.
The entire perfume-making process is manual and artisanal. For all these reasons, CARTHUSIA—which means "Charterhouse"—is considered a "niche" perfumery house. In the world of perfumery, niche perfumes are more refined, exclusive, and represent the elite of the industry due to their excellence, uniqueness, quality, craftsmanship, and the superior natural raw materials used in their creation.
